I believe I can come back to the Thursday Sashiko Live Streaming Tonight. As muc

atsushijp, 2022年12月2日

I believe I can come back to the Thursday Sashiko Live Streaming Tonight. As much as I value the importance of sharing the stories, I feel the necessity of sharing “as is”. Over the Internet, in the magic box so called PCs/MACs, anything can be “modified” and “edited”. Interestingly speaking, a Story can be a creation, right? I share honest stories, yet they are “my” stories after going through my filter. Therefore, for me, it is very important to show “what I do” on top of “Stories I share”. Live Streaming is a place where I share how I would be stitching with no editing & modification. Well, it is LIVE… so when you watch it over there, I am stitching here in front of the webcam.

☆

Many advise(d) me to reconsider what I am doing – offering everything “as is” for free of charge? I understand the risk of “Free”, but I would like to pass down the Sashiko we practice even if I would lose the future “bread”. In fact, I believe I can differentiate what I offer as “Workshop/Class” with fees by adding more personal touch on top of the “Live Streaming”. So, please come and enjoy me stitching while listening to the stories about Sashiko & Japanese Culture. Copy it. Apply it. Even teach what I do to others. Just please mention my name so that we can protect the “upstream” of the Sashiko we practice. I hope to share time with you tonight.

The origin of Sashiko & Boro, to patchwork the small tiny fabric with Sashiko Stitches. To make fabric stronger, and to appreciate fabric without throw them away. Mottaina – Too good to waste, is how the Japanese developed some of our beautiful culture. — 2018-06-21 21:19:35 Source

It isn’t our Sashiko piece. One of my Sashiko friends (who took our Sashiko workshop before) is working on this beautiful Jacket and shared it with me. I am extremely happy that she continues enjoying Sashiko and the result is magnificent. The same as what we make. She enjoys the…

This is how Yoko Saito pieces her quilts by hand. I tried doing it, but I think it takes a lot of practice when you’re used to doing some thing else. Muscle memory is hard to overcome. I will keep trying😍 do you wear special thimbles???
