It isn’t our Sashiko piece. One of my Sashiko friends (who took our Sashiko workshop before) is working on this beautiful Jacket and shared it with me. I am extremely happy that she continues enjoying Sashiko and the result is magnificent. The same as what we make. She enjoys the process of stitching, and that is the message I would like to share. Sashiko is a process of caring someone (including oneself).

The workshop is going great! Many good people in the good atmosphere. Sashiko isn’t about being right or wrong, or making the beautiful stitch or not. I hope I could share the beauty of “ordinary people’ stitching” and the result of their own live (rhythm). Another workshop tomorrow!

There is no “Right” or “Wrong” in Sashiko – However, there is a sort of “Common Understanding (Image)” of Sashiko we (the Japanese) assume. Not a definition. More like what we expect when we hear the word “Sashiko”. To respect the Japanese culture & mindset in Sashiko, it is very…

When I speak up, I try my best to be “reasonable”. “Reasonable” here indicates being “logical” so that we can be on the same page in sharing stories regardless of the fundamental difference we have. Therefore, I ask here to read as many posts as possible here. The logic is…

“Silence is gold, speech is silver (Carlyle,Thomas)”. ”Who knows most, speaks least.(P. Lovesey)”, “Brevity is the soul of wit (Shakespeare)”. All of the proverbs are great – Zen teaches us, the truth exists in practice – not in words. However, these proverbs require one condition – that we are on…
