[To clarify what I write]
Respect is not sufficient by just a word – not even an attitude. Respect is an action.

I did not ask for “respect to Sashiko culture” 3 years ago because there was no explanation of what the Sashiko we practice is like in English. It is unfair to ask everyone to be able to read Japanese or live in Japan for a long time. Today after 3 years, many people know I have provided enough information to avoid cultural appropriation. Not every wisdom I have, but enough to respect the origin. Therefore, I am agitated by the trend. Respect is an action – go grab the information “Available FOR FREE” first. If you like it, then please consider supporting what we do by being caring & learning on Patreon or in Workshops. Support Sashiko in purchasing the Sashiko supplies from us or other caring Sashiko businesses (like @indigoniche). If you don’t like what is Sashiko with the Japanese culture, then stop the Cultural Appropriation there. “Sashiko” is our culture – not the word for marketing or for getting you an artist.

One of the frustrations I feel when I see the word “Sashiko” in a non-Japanese-related context is that they often focus on the “result”. The result is important, but the result is merely the result. Sashiko is more than that, I believe. The core is somewhere else, and the core…

SashiCo is a project of a mother (Keiko) & her son (Atsushi), with tremendous help & support from SashiCo friends. Keiko and I are quite different. I am left brained (logic), and she is right brained (creativity). I talk more, she stitches more. I think around, she feels. I worry,…

Thank you for comments with empathy. I guess I have reached up my capacity. I receive many requests & questions about Sashiko. I tried to be honest and earnest to share the Sashiko we practice. However, some handle my attitude without being mindful, and they hurt my feelings. Unfortunately, a…
