SashiCo is a project of a mother (Keiko) & her son (Atsushi), with tremendous help & support from SashiCo friends. Keiko and I are quite different. I am left brained (logic), and she is right brained (creativity). I talk more, she stitches more. I think around, she feels. I worry, she prays.
☆
We are balanced for that. I long to be like her, and she knows she cannot exist without me. As much as we enjoy the difference, we share many identical beliefs. What I write here is based on our mindset. ☆
My life has changed significantly due to Covid-19 (full time worker to a homeschooler + work). Keiko continues her days without much difference. She stitches, she prays, and she enjoys Sashiko. Both of us believe in the power of the ordinary – Keiko often says, “I do what I can do in front of me. I am not smart to think how society will change. What I can do is be sincere & honest, and keep enjoying Sashiko”. I know a number of Sashiko stitchers like her – my wish is to protect them – and sharing the Sashiko is the path I choose. Worrying & preparing is very important to adapt us into the “change”. However, I also admire those who innocently try to continue the ordinary regardless. ☆

I had a great talk session with @quilt.buzz. The episode is up on the air. As the interviewers learned what Sashiko is for us in advance of the talk session, the content is quite rich to understand what Sashiko is (for us). It may be quite different from what majority…

It has been a great time in Bennington offering Sashiko Workshop to Artists, and learning Art from the Artists. [What is Art?] is a question we probably shouldn’t jump into on SNS – but it is so profound to meet actual Artists, and learn from their way of approaching &…

Japanese business has a unique custom of celebrating the new year by providing a “Lucky (Blind) bag”. Although some business uses this opportunity to clear their dead stock, I simply would like to celebrate the new year with a good deal. As you know, I barely offer a discount on…
