The first time to offer the Sashiko workshop in the city I live, Lewisburg, PA.

atsushijp, 2019年5月8日

The first time to offer the Sashiko workshop in the city I live, Lewisburg, PA. I usually travel to NYC and bigger city to make the workshop happen. This time, I fortunately got a few people who wanted to & capable of taking the workshop in the same date.
☆
It is always good to have people here, where I do Sashiko stitching. It isn’t organized well, but I can share how & what I create in daily bases. The Sashiko workshop is available (almost) any weekdays (by appointment only, though). Please check our website (from the profile) if you are interested in the workshop with visiting me. ☆

Once I found an advertisement for the event saying “Sashiko technique” and “Learn the tradition”, which was not related to the traditional Sashiko in my understanding. I asked the person (who posted) how they decided to link the event to the word “Sashiko”. There may be information/documents I don’t know….

I strongly remember some words from my grandmother (Keiko’s mom), who was a cook, while I was “helping” her to prepare the meal. She taught me that “Subtraction is important in Cooking”. While adding Miso into a pod, I wondered what she meant because I was “adding” the ingredients. After…

It was a great workshop. I feel so blessed I was able to attend your workshop in your home. You were not only a great teacher but a gracious host. Thank you for all the hard work that you obviously put into preparing the class. I really liked hearing background information about Sashiko and the Japanese culture. It was such a relaxed atmosphere. If you get a chance to take a class with Azu. Do it, you will not be disappointed. Have to go stitch now.
