I share the core of Sashiko with photos & stories in SashiCo Account, @Sashi.Co | Often, however, an actual item easily exceeds the pages of explanation. This Jacket is one of those. This is the “core” of our Sashiko.
☆
Once a year, as if a flower blooms, Keiko’s iconic jacket makes its debut. We make several Hitomezashi Jackets every year, but this has so many layers of stories. Oshima Vintage Silk, stitching to strengthen the fabric, so we can use it as a Jacket again. ☆
This is one of the most popular items that Keiko makes. It usually gets sold out (or even back order) before it reaches my hand – to the U.S. | This time, I am negotiating if I can have it in the U.S. | It is a quite expensive for a Jacket – like 10~15 years-old Toyota Car in good shape, but as a wearable art, we believe it is still in a reasonable range. We spend way more time in this than the actual pricing. I hope I can have it here so I can share them for those who take/took my Sashiko workshop & Online Class.

Keiko in @Sashi.Co started dyeing the thread for her own Sashiko projects sometime early in 2000’s (I don’t remember exactly when). In 2016, we started introducing them & offering them as purchasable threads for other Sashiko artisans/stitchers. Ever since, until we met experts in Kakishibu (Japanese Kaki Persimmon Tannin Dye),…
