You may already know this wisdom. I have shared the “Full Length” Tutorial on my Youtube Channel available to anyone (on 9/21/2020 – https://youtu.be/ekKoGmr2Ap0). I used my thread up in today’s Live Streaming & I remember a comment saying it took few hours to untangle the thread. I am here sharing a quick video of me preparing the thread for tomorrow’s Sashiko.

☆

There are reasons why we call it “Sashiko Thread”. The Thread Matters. Sashiko became popular and many manufacturers now offer Sashiko Thread, but our Sashiko thread requires a bit of extra tip to keep them in a good shape. It isn’t difficult at all. It is just a matter of knowing it or not. (If you are about to unskein the thread, please check the full video above).

This is my favorite Boro Jacket from Keiko. She made it for me when I decided to continue offering the Sashiko Workshop in NYC. ★ I plan to talk about what is “Boro” and its definition on Youtube. Boro is a result of continous stitching (so-called Sashiko), in which the…

A Zen story I remember all of sudden. A philosopher visited a Zen-master to learn the Zen-practice. The master welcomed him and served a cup of tea. The master kept pouring the tea although the cup was full. The tea kept overflowing. The philosopher asked the master to stop pouring…

After all, people only learn what they want to learn. When they face an “inconvenient reality”, they choose the way to justify themselves. I appreciate those who try to learn something new. I feel there are 2 kinds of cultural repainting: one is intentional and the other is by “goodwill…
