After all, people only learn what they want to learn. When they face an “inconvenient reality”, they choose the way to justify themselves. I appreciate those who try to learn something new. I feel there are 2 kinds of cultural repainting: one is intentional and the other is by “goodwill (not knowing)”. Regardless, what I can do is to keep sharing the “Authentic Sashiko look” photos, and prepare for the possible scenarios. Meanwhile, I share honest insights. There are many stories (reasons) behind Sashiko, and Boro is more than “visible mending”.

久々の配信、とても楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。相変わらずのドタバタ感ですが、ご参加頂いた皆様、ありがとうございます。刺し子が居場所（帰る場所）であるように、配信の空間もとても心地良いものになっています。

刺し子を伝えたい。願いは変わっていません。どれだけ語っても、想像力を駆使して表現しても、針目が何より多くを語ります。是非、配信を通して、「話し手と聞き手」という一方通行の関係ではなく、「一緒に共有する刺し子（手仕事）の時間」を楽しんで頂ければと。話はラジオ的な一方通行かもですが、こうして世界中で一緒に刺し子をしていることが、何よりも愛おしくて仕方ないのです。

Surely, if you introduce an idea of Sashiko to a different culture, it will change and adapt with time and assimilate, like an immigrant who has to adopt some local customs to be accepted and understood?

まだ本調子ではないなかなという感じはしましたがあつしさんが楽しく出来他のであればこちら側も嬉しいです。しばらく刺し子をしていなくても自然ともどってしまう不思議さを感じてはいたのですが経過が刺し子だからなのかなと思います

Why is it ‘intentional ignorance? I’m going to learn it – I lived in Japan for six years. I intend to make my stitches look authentic as best I can . I have been sewing since I was 13. If I use sashiko authenticity I expect it to remain traditional, yes?
