A new collection of Keiko’s hand-dye Sashiko threads are now restocked “in Japan”… @UpcycleStitches are still waiting for the update by Japan Post for the resumption of the International Air Shipping for restocking. Some of the colors are still available in the Upcycle Stitches Store. Please check the website (https://upcyclestitches.com/store/) or the Instagram Account for more detail.

I shared a story about the Japanese belief of Animism – that a spirit resides in every matter. We also believe that the word (sound) carries the spirit. We talk to the fabric when we stitch. We talk to the thread when we add colors. We believe that it makes a difference. I hope what we make by our own hands with our voice will communicate what Sashiko is to us.

A question within myself. What is the difference between Quilting and Sashiko? Toward I am spending as much time as possible learning the Quilting. ☆ Quilting and Sashiko have a lot of similarities. “How to enjoy fabric” is a universal language in between Quilting & Sashiko. These colors looks so wonderful. I get it when you said animism as I get this feeling when I try to find the fabric or thread color to match what I’m designing. It’s like the material just popped right out and said “choose me”😁
