From the post 3 days ago, I feel “Running” was another great analogy to explain the Sashiko I share. Unfortunately, many Sashiko teachers/kits tell them how to make perfect “sized” stitches. Some say that the stitches have to be certain length/sizes. Some fabric shows how long the stitches should be, “Before They Teach the form of running”.

As long as one’s goal is to run for fun, any form is good. Enjoy running itself. However, when it comes to how to improve running & teaching others, then the form is important. Many ask me to teach them how to make stitches even. In this analogy, a stitcher needs to learn the form. Without that, a stitcher who is trying to make even stitches without learning the form is like a runner who only looks at the grounds with only caring slides while wearing Crocs. Again, there is nothing wrong with Crocs and caring for slides. However, when they start teaching “formless running with Crocs’ ‘ as the traditional/authodox running, then something will be repainted… right?

Don’t worry. Just start running. You may feel “umm, I want to do better…”. Then please come back to me to learn the form & appropriate gear. Don’t jump onto some shallow information such as “how to run faster in ◯◯ days”… If you want to be a runner who can enjoy running for a long time – either sprinter or marathon, I will be here to be your escort runner, who offer the correction of form, a map for where you run, and encouragement when you are in suffering.

Please be advised. I am a professional in Sashiko – not running. The running is just an analogy, as previous running enthusiast (not any more… but I wish to go back there. )

明日の配信、話したいことだらけで、一時間では消化不良……というか最初からエンスト起こすかもです（笑）昨日の英語の文章、「僕の運針は特別だ……」みたいに読めてしまうかも（翻訳されてしまうかも）ですが、そんなことは全く思ってないので、ご理解頂ければ嬉しいです。僕がお伝えする運針をされる人にお会いしたことは、家業以外では確かにありません。でも、きっと似たような運針はどこかに存在するし、寧ろ似た運針をされる方からはお話を伺いたいし学びたいと思っています。日本国外では相当特異なんでしょうけれど、日本国内では「普通に当たり前に存在していいはずの運針」だと思っています。それを系統立てて伝えられる人がいるかどうかは別の話ですが……。後20年……早くこの使命を自覚していたらなぁと、少し後悔はあるのです。
