In this extraordinary (pandemic), ”Pray (only itself)” won’t change a reality. We need to “Stay (still)” rather than “Pray”. However, without “Pray”, nothing can be restarted. All of the changes start from our “praying (for the new ordinary)”. ☆
One of the core messages I would like to “tell” to my daughter (Leona) is the importance of using hands. As I keep saying, while we use both hands, we can focus on the moment, and the mindfulness leads us to pray (hope for something in our brain). It doesn’t have to be Sashiko. Anything with both hands would form a good moment of prayer.
☆
I start the day with a crafting activity with Leona. I fold a Origami crane every day – to pray for the new ordinary. No specific religion here. This prayer is, I believe, universal over any beliefs. We pray for our (humans) happiness for the day. This crisis is teaching us how important it is to have the mindful moment – be mindful and care for the others, and most importantly, ourselves. A Origami crane gives me a few minutes of praying. Sashiko gives me hours of being mindful. ☆

Many ask me, “How can you make stitches so even?”. My answer is, “because I am not trying to”. There are many reasons for me sharing the Sashiko. I introduced 4 main reasons why it is important to learn posture instead of just “technique”. One of the Sashiko Cores is…

I appreciate many reactions to the previous post. I just wanted to add it to avoid unfortunate misunderstandings. It is fine (by me) to celebrate the “imperfection” within their own creation. I am nowhere to define what “perfect” and “beauty” are. The posts are not triggered by any specific people….

It is now ready to use in our ordinary after Mizutoushi & Itokiri (Clipping the thread tails). Can you tell which is the so-called “wrong side”? Well, as I intend to make both sides as “finish side“, there isn’t the “wrong side” much, but I hope which side is the…

Thank you for sharing your thoughts again. I’m am very lucky in where I live is a small fishing village. I too start my day with a routine with a now lonely walk (without my neighbour) around the township, but I look at the seasonal changes in the vegetation & am so thankful that I can still walk n see these changes in the season. Take care all
