It is another honor to announce the Sashiko Workshop with a crafts-store-super-star, Purl Soho. The workshop style is very similar to my regular workshop, yet it is specially designed for Purl Soho’s customer who likes to apply Sashiko to their own craft. On top of teaching the core & basic technique of Sashiko stitching, I will mention how to prepare, apply. and continuously enjoy Sashiko. Also, it is 5+ hours workshop and you will learn A LOT about Sashiko. So many stories that I would like to share & So many techniques I would like to celebrate together. Sashiko is very simple so anyone can do that. Once you learn how to use the tools and posture, it will improve the stitching experience significantly and it will be to you! We sincerely hope to meet you there.

December 8th. If you follow this account for more than a year, you may know this day is a bit special to Japanese, especially for those who stitch. Yes, it is the day for “Hari-Kuyou”. ☆ Sashiko is getting popular with its “imperfection”, “simplicity”,“beauty of patterns” and such. I am…

In 2017, I decided to Stop buying new clothes. Instead of purchasing a new one, I decided to “fix (mend)” it. More importantly, in order to avoid the mending (which isn’t the best joy to me), I am trying to add Sashiko stitching everywhere I can feel. Many say that…

The Japanese, who lived in a harsh condition with limited resources, stitched to “prevent” the mending. With following the proper wisdom, the fabric gets a lot stronger. Boro is a result of this tremendous repetition: “prevention”, “repair”, and “patchworking”. It is good that we enjoy the beauty of these pieces….
