The Japanese, who lived in a harsh condition with limited resources, stitched to “prevent” the mending. With following the proper wisdom, the fabric gets a lot stronger. Boro is a result of this tremendous repetition: “prevention”, “repair”, and “patchworking”. It is good that we enjoy the beauty of these pieces. Indeed, they are beautiful. However, when one says “Inspired”, I wish they are inspired not only by looking but also the stories behind it. There is nothing wrong with repairing the denim with patches & Sashiko. I enjoy that, too. However, the story doesn’t end as “Sashiko & Boro is stitching technique”. Please learn it more, mindfully, and from someone you would like to learn from.

これまで運針をお教えしてきて、以前にも増して「”運針教えてますよ”と宣伝していない」のは、ある意味で満足してしまっているからなんだと配信でお伝えしてきました。「頼りにしてるんだから」と応援頂くのと同時に、20年間悩んできたことは、この5年間で「予期せぬ形」で良い方向に変わりました。それだけ、ご縁を頂いて運針をお伝えしてきた方々の刺し子が、「僕が昔に見ていた刺し子」にどんどん近づいているからだと思います。「誰」が刺し子をするかによって、刺し子の結果は変わると思っていたので、悩みは尽きませんでした。それが「どう刺し子と向き合うか」によって刺し子の結果が変わるんだと理解するようになりました。そして、刺し子と向き合い運針を続けることこそが、僕が憧れていた「誰」になる過程なんだろうなと。

「何を大袈裟なことを」と思われるかもしれません。所詮針仕事、そんな深いものなんてないだろうと思われるのが自然だと思います。僕も客観的にみたらそうなるもの。ただ、今では考えられない「狂気」の中で生きてきた日本人がいた訳で、その狂気の周辺まで喜んで（楽しんで）近づいていく方々と知り合えたのは、やっぱり「運針を教える」というご縁を頂いたからなんだろうなと思います。

運針をお伝えした皆様の刺し子を直に手で触れることが、刺し子をする上での一番の楽しみになりました。とても素敵な刺し子です。
