I will be on the West Coast for the first time teaching Sashiko! It is a great honor to be invited to the Slow Fiber Studio (@worldshiborinetwork) to offer the In-Person Sashiko Workshops I have been sharing in many cities. I will be in the Bay Area, Berkeley CA, from July 22nd to 27th, offering both “Core & Essence ” and “MORE (Application & Practice)”. The studio will be open to the public on Sunday 25th with me joining their Artist gathering, talks, show & tell, and trunk sale. With receiving a lot of requests to be in the West Coast in the last 4 years, it is really the first time to be there. Exciting.

I am aware of what is expected of my Sashiko Workshop. Many people bring their questions & passion to get “the right answer” or “appropriate (authentic) way” to do Sashiko. My goal is to go beyond that – by sharing what Sashiko is with teaching the “Form”, what I do is just “assist” their learning instead of “making them to follow the direction”. Online Sashiko Class completely fulfill the “Core & Essence”, so graduates of Online Class can take “MORE” class. Or simply come to the gathering on Sunday so that I can finally meet in person. If you have been waiting for the In-person workshop, this is the opportunity! As always, I will do my best to go beyond the expectation – to share the eye-opening experience. For the detail, please follow the account above, or check my Story later on, or visit (https://slowfiberstudios.com/upcoming-events/).
☆
The registration opened for the WSN members in advance. Please consider joining the WSN to support their beautiful & meaningful work. What WSN and I do is similar, to share the stories of Japanese culture & practice as “real” as possible – therefore, I will be there in July.

I love Jazz. In my twenties, there was a moment when I start “liking” the Free Jazz – It became an entertainment from a collection of sounds (noise… sorry). As my experience with Jazz, I can see that Sashiko may transform its look for more “free” from “traditional”. I hope,…

Sashiko with Shippou Pattern on the back side of Jeans. I personally prefer the Asano-ha. So much stitching in these days. Gotta go back to regular days soon. I enjoyed a lot, though.

I am unsure if I can take the MORE class because of work but would definitely be there on Sunday for the trunk show.
