We can do A LOT with our own hands – and all I am doing is to share the possibility. Sashiko isn’t about making “one perfect or Imperfect” stitches. When we focus on only the “result”, we won’t get this much stitching. Then, how? That’s what I teach, and the messages behind this account. It has been a difficult year. In fact, it is getting more and more difficult to speak up as I have more followers… yet, it is very true that I am here thanks to YOU who follow, read, listen to, and support me & other Sashiko artisans around me. Thank YOU, and I will be here in 2023 as well.

I have been reading & learning about “What is (Fine) Art?” as I realize my understanding of Art as “something extraordinary” is insufficient. I found an interesting phrase in a book written by a gallery owner. “Art exists on Consideration”. She wrote that Imagining 5W1H behind the piece we look…

I hope… I wish that many people would enjoy Sashiko not only by the “result” but also as an ordinary practice (prayer). ☆ I make 1 stitch per second comfortably. (I even tried the time attack to see how many stitches I can make in 30 sec – on Youtube)….

I started seeing so many photos of Sashiko with Unshin – from those who learned Sashiko in our Workshop. You may wonder how I can tell the difference between Sashiko with or without our teaching. It is interesting that the stitches themselves start communicating once they learn how to ride…

Thank you for all the stories and lessons you’ve shared this year! Some lessons are immediately clear to me, others I have to think about before understanding, but I listen and learn and I’m grateful for your work and voice. Wishing you the best for 2023!

❤️thank you so much for sharing your story, in sight and your cultural. I’m very new to Sashiko and your group. I just joined last month. Slowly I am listening to the lectures and now listening two more times on lecture two. After I get a clear understand, I will begin my first Sashiko stitch from the kit I received. I’m looking forward to read and to share my own experience as we are stitches our path.

I’m sorry it is getting harder for you to speak out. I think you have an important perspective to share. It certainly has changed the way I view sashiko and the way that people present it.
