Our Sashiko Story to Your Sashiko Journey

Last 5 years or so, I have been making a rule to share a Sashiko Story (almost)

atsushijp, 2023年6月1日

Last 5 years or so, I have been making a rule to share a Sashiko Story (almost) daily. As this May/June happened to be a bit of a crazy month, I feel bad that I am not fulfilling the rule I made. If you are new here, welcome. If you are a long follower, please give me a bit more time to get my things together. I am not in a condition to spend a good amount of time & mind into writing.
☆
Please do not worry, though. No matter how “out of balance” I get into, I will not quit sharing the Sashiko Story. There are so many stories to share, so many messages to deliver. By offering the Introductory Sashiko Course on Domestika, I can finally say that my recommendation to start Sashiko without big commitment is here. By being in this new community, I realize how “filtered” or “different” the Sashiko had become. It is difficult to find the Sashiko I know…. It is no-one’s fault (unless there is someone who intentionally repainted the Sashiko Culture) – therefore, I am conditioning myself to restart the Story. Replay. Reframe. Well… then, the best way is to publish a book… (I am NOT in the process of publishing any books now, so don’t expect it… yet!).

We would say that we have accomplished the Natural Indigo Dye with Sukumo (Japanese traditional method). Some tiny parcels of Indigo Dye got stuck into the softly twisted Sashiko thread. However, we decided to introduce them because the parcels can be removed when we use the thread in Sashiko stitching….

【Announcement】 ☆ I have received several concerns about my privacy setting on Instagram that they cannot tag this account on their post/story. I allow everyone to tag, comment, and “mention” because I can learn something even from hatred. Only thing I do is “Block” the account which does harm “repeatedly”….

Never forget to put yourself first 🙏 your guidence and teachings are a blessing, dont let them become your curse! Rest is just as important for the journey as discipline

I learned this pattern in a sashimi class and have also used it as a quilting pattern.
