これまで両手に収まらない程の不毛なやり取りを英語で、それでも丁寧に繰り返してきた訳ですが、最終的に相容れない方々が残す捨て台詞があります。不思議と共通。「刺し子の先生は沢山いる。別に貴方から学ぶ必要はない。」というのもの。諸々突っ込みどころはあるとは思うのですが、刺し子というものを根本的に捉えて一つ。「刺し子においては、存在する全ての人が先生である」ということ。日常の営みだった刺し子において、結果の好き嫌いは別としても、「学べる機会を自ら放棄すること」はつまりは刺し子そのものを否定していることだと思うのです。

刺し子において絶対的な存在というのは存在しません。それが刺し子だから。こぎんも、菱刺しも、一目刺しも、波縫いも、模様刺しも、アレンジ柄も何もかも「刺し子」と一括りにされているのにも関わらず、日本国内で論争が起きないのは、日本人として「刺し子は日常に存在したもの」というのが、なんとなく浸透しているからだと思うのです。「味噌汁の具は何が正解で、味噌は何味噌にすべきか？」という論争が不毛で馬鹿げているのと同時に、刺し子の先生を限定してしまうことほどもったいない（そして存在そのものを否定している）ことはないと思うのです。だから、「あ〜もったいないなぁ」と思って会話が終わる。でも、そのもったいないという感覚は、僕の理想である「刺し子を伝える」という括りでは失敗で。だから苦しかった。結局逃げたけどさ。

I do not give up on SNS (IG or FB). This decision is not because of Cultural Appropriation. I simply want to protect myself from “thoughtless” people who do not read what I write. My goal is the same (to share the Sashiko we practice). My feeling about C/A is still encouraging you to call your stitching Sashiko (when J/C is respected). So, I simply write less here. My core message is already on our web & previous posts. In Patreon, where I express myself without fear, I will continue the journey of trying how I can verbalize what is vague in translation, Like Mottainai, Wabisabi, and Sashiko.
