Keiko and I are not wealthy artisans. We (sometimes) need to have another non-Sashiko job to pay our expenses. At the same time, however, we strongly believe in the importance of supporting the rising artisans. When I come across the talented artisan, either Sashiko or Natural Dye, I try to invest as much money and time as possible. In 2019, I had 2 great Sashiko artisans collaborated with Upcycle Stitches. In 2020, as a first release, I am happy to announce the new Natural Dye Sashiko Thread by a rising artisan.

This journey, hopefully, will pass down the Sashiko we have received from our previous generations. Threads are available @upcyclestitches. ☆

In order to have good Sashiko Stitching, it is critical to have good thread. All Sashiko practitioner should be rewarded to the time they spended by having beautiful result. 2017-02-21 18:48:06 Source

After the industrial revolution, we tried to win – competition – to be the number one. With the emergence of the Internet (and tired of competing with each other), we tried to celebrate who we are – diversity – to be the only one. Now, everything is connected, we can…

Almost completing the shipping of Fukubukuro within Japan. Since it is all prepared individually, it takes a long time to make one shipment. We believe this “long process time” isn’t bad, especially for the Fukubukuro. (We usually ship the order very promptly). It is a time for us to think…
