In the past, people only could pray when an outbreak of infectious disease occurred. Today, we have a choice to overcome. I humbly follow the expert decision – the US is in National Emergency – we should do all of the precautionary measures to protect us. No panic is necessary as many experts say.

At the same time, please remember the power of praying. I am not talking about a specific religion. Wishing for someone’s better standing with inputting a lot of caring in hand-working is universal practice.

Japan was a poor country. Where the people needed to stitch for survival, some diseases (ex. Smallpox) was incurable, and they only prayed in all of their practice. I believe, Sashiko was part of the practices. The pattern changes. The change itself is not a bad thing. It may come back to the original, or something even better. I sincerely pray for everyone’s safety, and then pray for local/small businesses around to keep the society running – to pass down the culture.

米国で国家非常事態が宣言されました。ライブで見てましたが、これほど具体的な道筋を示して貰えると安心感があります。学校もきっと全部休校になると思います。学校だけじゃなくて、きっと「密集する」ものは全て延期・中止。薬局の役割を果たす超大手民間チェーンの駐車場を使ってドライブスルーで検査を行い、且つ全国民が（必要であれば）検査が無料で受けられる等（移民は未定）、素晴らしい一手です。経済への心配も不安もありますが、まずはできることをすべきなんだろうなと思います。学校が休校になり、でも売上は下がり……と、一層大変になりますが……でも、頑張るしかないもんなー。

昔の人は、伝染病が流行った際、祈ることしかできませんでした。何が原因すらもわからず苦しむ家族や知人の回復を祈った刺し子もきっとあったはずです。ずーっと同じ柄も素敵ですが、敢えて切り替える柄も素敵です。その切り替えの時が祈りの瞬間だったようにすら感じるのです。全世界で一日も早く終息を迎えますように。
