Sound Alert. ☆

A bit of Atsushi’s personal life. As I often describe, I have core words in my ordinary: “No matter how difficult it is, we can go through it when we have warm food & good laughs”. We are in the historical crisis. It is not a time to be happy. I am sad. However, or “Therefore”, it is important to remember the power of “Ordinary” – food & laughter made by(for) someone we care, including ourselves. ☆

I wasn’t happy when the state shut down the school. It affects my productivity, and my “business” significantly slows down. However, after 3 weeks of spending so much time with family, I remember why I wanted to be productive in business: it was to make them a bit happier, at least to avoid the unfortunate. ☆

The reality we can stay home together is privilege. Screaming/whining children and a micromanaging-spouse may be troublesome a lot… However, the time staying together is the reason for working hard… right? I kind of give up being a good teacher in this home schooling. Instead, I decided to share who her father is – with cooking, stitching, and laughing. Don’t get me wrong. I am NOT a saint-like father. I just yelled at her 4 hours ago since she said her lunch looks yucky without even tasting it. We all need the discipline. Just let’s remember. What we tell(told) our children is something we have to remember today. Don’t define anything without trying it by yourself. ☆ – – – ☆

One of our life-changing opportunity was with “Otsuchi Sashiko” after 3/11 earthquake. The time in Otsuchi (severely damaged town by Tsunami) taught me the power of hand-crafting. We have been providing our experience with them, and we just received the great news that they will re-make the “All hand-stitched Japanese…

Attention. Please read what I write (have been writing) instead of what you want to Read. Please read my writing mindfully. “Reaching to the conclusion” or “changing the naming” by quick reading a few posts is the opposite of my message. I am not the authority in Sashiko. The core…

A jacket patchworking 14 participants’ Sashiko stitching. Sashiko occasionally can be lonely work. My goal is to provide a place (community) where they can belong to and feel comfortable. 14 of workshop graduates (in Japan) took in charge of Sashiko stitching, and Keiko completed it as one significant Sashiko Jacket….

Thank you. I needed that. My son told me tonight that I was a pretty good home school teacher, not good like a real trained teacher but good enough for someone who is usually a designer. 🙄

Just saw your video explaining history of sashiko and whether there are any rules. I have started trying sashiko fairly recently without any face to face tuition and I have to say I found what you said so reassuring and liberating really. Thank you.

This is the most heartwarming video I have seen. These days are challenging but there are opportunities in every situation. Well done. My son used to say to me when he’s was a kid that his job was to play!
