Attention. Please read what I write (have been writing) instead of what you want

Attention. Please read what I write (have been writing) instead of what you want to Read. Please read my writing mindfully. “Reaching to the conclusion” or “changing the naming” by quick reading a few posts is the opposite of my message. I am not the authority in Sashiko. The core message of “Sashiko as the process” is Our idea (Mainly Atsushi’s idea and Keiko agrees) – the messages aren’t from artisans. The wisdom I got by being there in the Sashiko business – after all, Sashiko was ordinary habit for the ordinary Japanese people.
☆
If you have been reading what I write, you are probably tired of reading these. However, I don’t know other way to communicate but keep telling them. For those who found us recently, please read as many posts & website articles before implementing anything. I never said calling a random hand-stitching Sashiko is always the cultural appropriation (I am working on the article to share my thoughts on this topic). I never mentioned myself as the Sashiko Authority. Please. Please do not stamp another “quick image” by reading what you want. ☆
In a long Japanese history, (as long as I know) no one stood up to “define” what Sashiko is for the purpose of excluding the others. Each Sashiko in each region recognized each other. I want to keep it that way. It is NOT me who to define what Sashiko is. What I am doing here is to share the Sashiko we know – the Sashiko more than just focusing on the result and outcome. Why? Because by understanding the beauty of process (caring & appreciation) Sashiko become so much more than just good at hand-stitching, and most importantly, more enjoyable. Well… I guess I need to keep saying this post, don’t I…?

I usually do this on Patreon, but a bit of mind food here. Which do you “choose” if you choose ONLY one to achieve in your life, “Success (Glory)” or “Satisfaction”? ☆ While both can be a trigger (foundation) of realizing happiness, these 2 “achievements” exist in the extreme opposite…

It is true that people used Sashiko to mend garment/fabric. So, mending itself is an important part of Sashiko. However, I do not often have a mending project myself. In this society, the opportunity of “mending” does not happen so much. Cutting a piece off from a pair of pants,…

Thank you for many comments on the “Sashiko fabric mask” post. It is my intention to share the beauty of “process of making (caring)”, not only the result of fabric mask as an “Art” or “Fashion”. ☆ Again, I received many “advice” on the previous post. It is getting kind…

It may feel to you like you’re a “broken record”, but it takes some of us a lot of reading, pondering and re-reading to get to the heart of the matter and how it applies to us. Thank you for taking the time to help us understand the history and context of sashiko and boro stitching traditions.

It’s such a busy time of year for me. I wish I had the time to read. Your work is near the top of my list to read/study. Your work is important. The process is important. The care and appreciation (of many things) needs to be relearned, more in some cultures than others.
