The Sashiko Jacket 003 (Yesterday’s post on Jan.9th) brought us the great opportunity to work for a challenging project – in 2018. The result is this (SJBOMNJacket). Starting the project with collecting the vintage fabric, patchworking, then Sashiko. It is our hope to bring “not-used-fabric” into the jacket on the stage (of life) with quality materials such as threads and needles and artisanship. We can continue these challenges thanks to those who support us by ordering supplies, providing us an opportunity to work for them, and many encouragements. Just a few years ago, Keiko and I occasionally worked on a part-time job to pay bills. Now, we focus on Sashiko thanks to you who support us – the next goal is to have a small studio somewhere.
☆
We don’t consider ourselves artists for many reasons – but I started feeling that the general public may make us the artist one day. Let’s see. Artists can be the artist because of those who support the Artist (in any ways). More photos of this jacket is available on our portfolio, which can be accessed from the profile link.

One of my big challenges in this crisis (paradigm shift period) is to lower my standard. I am a typical perfectionist, and I simply cannot compromise. Does it sound like what I am saying here? Yes, the message on SNS is toward myself as well. I am in the process…

Since I teach Sashiko, I am a teacher (Sensei). However, I don’t like to be called “Sensei”… since my goal is to share Sashiko – not to be “the teacher”. After all, it is not “me” who decides if I am a good teacher or not. It is people who…

Thanks to many friends, there are some Sashiko Workshops planned in July & September. The face to face workshop is THE BEST way to start & review your Sashiko. I am pretty confident that I can deliver the core of Sashiko after sharing it with more than 70 participants. —…

🔥 Amazing work of art! This is art. If someone looks at something and sees art then it is art and as the creators you are the artists.
I’m just beginning sashiko and have started to get some patters down. My goal is to one day be able to make a patchwork garment, but it is a long way from happening. In the mean time small projects for me and I’ll continue to watch your page for inspiration! 🙏🏻
