[Favor to ask]

[Favor to ask]
As I had expected, I started seeing some Sashiko “kit” available. I understand the easiness of starting Sashiko with a prepared package. I have sold some kits. I may plan to sell more Sashiko kits in the future. HOWEVER, PLEASE be Attentive (Caring) who is behind the screen (seller). Since Sashiko is now on the trend, many businesses join the market without proper knowledge and commitment to Sashiko. There are numbers of people (businesses) who invested their time and money into Sashiko, and we should protect them from the money-grabber business – They visit Japan on their own foot, talking to the Sashiko artisans by themselves, and enjoy Stitching by themselves before they sell Sashiko. You, as a customer, are the one who helps to pass down the Sashiko culture – by choosing committed vendors. Please help those who are not just a money grabber using the word of Sashiko and the trend of Sashiko. For example, @indigoniche in Australia has been sharing the Sashiko for a long time. We met in 2009 for the first time in Japan, and they develop such a wonderful supply to spread the Sashiko. ☆
Your caring will help to preserve the culture – Again, quickness is not a part of Sashiko – Sashiko isn’t difficult, but the core of Sashiko is Caring and Appreciation. If you agree with this message today, please spread the words… A common-sense created by the Mass-Production & big companies is pretty strong that could destroy the small cultural business – so before it gets too late, I gotta say what I feel. Thank you very much for your time to read this.

Another mending day with Customized Sashiko Jeans. It is not the Standard nor Traditional Sashiko. However, I define Sashiko as the process of stitching & reparing, then appreciating the fabric. By someone who appreciate these culture and put the value on my work, the culture of Sashiko will consist the…

We are a group of Sashiko stitchers – and Sashiko usually indicates a form of Japanese hand stitching. So, yes, it is hand-stitched. The previous posts (on 11/3 & 11/5) are the photos of the denim curtain with me hand-stitching in 5 months probably a few hours every week. Most…

I have to make a sad announcement today. I decided not to offer/arrange another Sashiko Japan Trip for This Fall or Spring 2024. I realize my priority is to support my family here, on top of sharing Sashiko Story & preserving Sashiko. As an immigrant family, for now, it is…

That’s really well said! I lived in Japan from 2008 to 2010 and loved it! Back in the Netherlands I wanted to keep in touch with the beautiful culture I discovered. Learning the language and doing Japanese crafts is my way of staying close to Japan. When I teach sashiko I always talk about Japan, the culture and the habits😊 We listen to Japanese music and sometimes have Japanese snacks 😋 I hope that I am helping spreading the Japanese culture and love for sashiko 💕
