We received a great quetsion. “What does a participant learn in Atsushi’s Sashiko Workshop?” Here is a short video to answer the question. Full version of this video is available in our Youtube Channel – Sashi.Co l no fast forwarding on this video. ★
Usually, the participants for Sashiko workshops are already interested in Sashiko Stitching. Sometimes, they have great amount of information and experience. This time, the Sashiko workshop with Making Space Brooklyn (@eileenfisherny), we may have someone who just know about Sashiko. I am building the workshop to share the same technique, culture, and mindset to anyone who got interested in this beutiful hand-stitching culture. I hope to meet you there this weekend. Ah… I am getting nervous (& excited).

As you may have learned, a big picture of Sashiko history is already lost. The Sashiko we practice today is more like a “revived version” of Sashiko stitching thanks to my grandparents generation (like around 80 years old now). They are the last generation of Japanese who actually received the…

I am enjoying the morning after a pretty intensive 3 days of teaching the Sashiko we practice. It was another great opportunity to share the Sashiko we practice, the Sashiko excluded from the mainstream. On the first day, many show their confusion, anxiety, and even frustration for the new items…

We all look at the world the way we want to see, listen to what we want to understand, and read things to validate our own ideas. I am the same, although my goal is to learn by being honest and humble. We live in a society of “freedom”. There…
