The first Sashiko in 6 days…? I cannot express how relaxed I felt while stitchin

atsushijp, 2020年3月20日

The first Sashiko in 6 days…? I cannot express how relaxed I felt while stitching. Although there are no scientific references, I can be certain that Sashiko rhythmical stitching is very good to calm down. An appropriate posture (so no body pain), hand-movement (so no need to focus the stitch size), an orchestra of silence and sounds of friction from thread & fabric, and its rhythm of stitching. An hour of stitching became a better relaxation than anything I remember recently. Before the crisis, I stitched pretty much everyday. After 5 days of adjusting to a new & temporary life-style, I realize how precious the ordinary is. Trust me. Stitching with emptying the brain is what we need now. ☆

This fabric will be a mask for me. I still don’t have the leisure to film myself, but I will take as many photos as possible to update the article. The article can be found from the link on our profile or a story archive. ☆ – – – ☆

☆ – – – ☆ I gave this bag as a present to my daughter for being a “big girl” to go on a trip with me for 6 days without her mother. Since then, she keeps using it even (or especially) when she sleeps in her…

Sashiko x Tsutsugaki Hand-dye Vintage Fabric. Because of my “boxed-idea of Sashi

Sashiko x Tsutsugaki Hand-dye Vintage Fabric. Because of my “boxed-idea of Sashiko”, Keiko’s colorful Sashiko always impress me. This collaboration could be something only we (who live in today) can do. The Tsutsugaki fabric was, “probably”, too expensive for someone who practiced Sashiko stitching. ☆ Katazome, Tusugaki, many types of…

Last 5 years or so, I have been making a rule to share a Sashiko Story (almost) daily. As this May/June happened to be a bit of a crazy month, I feel bad that I am not fulfilling the rule I made. If you are new here, welcome. If you…

Thanks so much again 🙏🏼 Your words and Sashiko stitching are very calming. May I ask, do you need to draw lines before stitching?

Love your posts and images of Sashiko. I’m going to try and teach myself some during this difficult time for us all. It is having a deeply unsettling effect on us all. I write for my living, but have it hard to lose myself in my novel in progress. I think sitting and doing some crafting will be a good way of relaxing and losing myself for a while. Thank you for sharing your skills 💙
