Speaking of “if” is kind of sad, but if Covid-19 didn’t brough the pandemic, I would have departed from the US to Japan today, after 7 years of not going back to Japan, to see my Sashiko friends, with bringing my Sashiko friends from the US. I was so excited to offer the “Sashiko Japan Tour” with me, and everything was ready at the end of Feb. Now, it is all postponed.

One of the biggest events in the Japan Tour was an “In-person gathering” of Sashiko friends both in Japan & from around the world. With Keiko, we were planning to introduce this Jacket for them to touch, feel, and wear with many stories. I believe many are interested in “many stories” about this Jacket. I wrote them in Japanese, so I will translate it when I have time. One day. I will re-visit Japan.

”たられば”のお話なのですが、今年の春に世界が変わってしまわなければ、今日は7年ぶり（!?）の日本帰国に向けての飛行機に乗る予定の日でした。もちろん、現段階では予定そのものをキャンセルです。とても楽しみにしていたので、本当に残念です。

7年も日本の地を踏んでいないので、何をしても楽しいとは思うのですが、一番楽しみにしていたのが、「オフ会」です。日々刺し子について偉そうなことを書き、面倒なことを配信で語っていますが、フォローしてくださっている方の殆どの方と実際にお会いしたことがないのです。一緒に様々なプロジェクトをしている人とも、深いご縁を感じながら、一度も面識がないんです（笑）今週金曜日の夜、6時間程の集まりを企画して、その際にそんな皆さんと一緒に作り上げたジャケットをお披露目する予定でした。お披露目の時の皆様の言葉を元にブログを書くことを何よりも楽しみにしていたのですが……もう少し先の未来へお預けです。ただ、ご報告はここでしておかなきゃと思い、簡単ではありますがブログに認めました。現代だからこそできる離れ業のジャケットだと思います。これの第二弾を始めることができたのも、本当に嬉しいです。

I so wish I could have been part of that trip!
Many important trips cancelled or rescheduled. The jacket is amazing. I continue to attempt my Sashiko stitching daily and am getting a little better each day. Your posts encourage me to stitch on.
I think 2020 has been a disappointment for us all. So sorry your trip was not to be… But don’t let the dream go. Plan for next year! 😊💖 P. S. I so love your posts!

We too had an overseas trip all planned out to leave in March but, of course, not to be this year. And going back to Japan is something I most definitely will do when I can! I loved it there

I am sorry you are not able to depart for Japan today. Millions of people around the world are detained in their homes and neighborhoods because of Covid-19. The jacket you would of brought with you is a work of art. It is worrthy of much study and admiration. Happy stitching.
