I just re-re-realize that “sharing” can be a very luxurious thing to do. I am supposed to know it by now, from my heart & from my past, but casual happiness sometimes makes me forget how precious it is to have physical, financial, and mental stability.

We all have “choices”. Thanks to this availability of “choices”, freedom gets its value. Although Sashiko was (mostly) developed in the necessity without choices, I am not advocating to go back to the society without choices. That would suck. I celebrate freedom as well. However, we must understand that our choices form our future. What we choose today will become what is available in the future. Thanks to the past, we have choices today, and we can choose the future. I don’t have enough power/strength to protect “it” alone, so I can only ask. Your choice will make the future.

ここ6年程、僕の人生では考えられないほど、毎日が安定していて。当たり前のように毎日願いを書き、毎週思いを語り、毎月疑いなく過ごしてきたけれど、こういう日々は、肉体的、精神的、金銭的、全ての安定がなければ成り立たないんだと強く思い出すことになりました。僕の人生で”安定”なんて言う言葉は昔からなかったから、誰よりも知ってたはずなんですが……人間は忘れるものです。

僕らは、昔の先人たちのおかげで、「選択できる」日々を送っています。自由に何かを選べる毎日は、昔はそれほど当たり前ではありませんでした。選べるというのは、とても幸せなことです。ただ、忘れてはいけないのは、「今日選ぶ何か」が、僕たちの未来を作るんです。10年後か100年後かはわかりません。でも、伝統も文化も日常も芸術も、「僕たちの選択」の結果なんだと思うんです。どれだけ今が幸せでも、忘れちゃいけないことはあるんですよね。
