We all have different values. I try to respect the personal value. It is one of the worst things to do to criticize others based on the “different value”. Believe or not, I occasionally receive an unbelievable criticism like a fossil. They leave a comment to my videos saying, “Wow. he is just stitching for hours” or “Doesn’t he have a real job?”. The comment is based on many issues, but the most significant issue is that “they blindly believe their value is the universal value”, on top of gender, race, you name it.

I here share the value of Japanese culture because this account is about Sashiko & Sashiko is deeply related to the Japanese culture. Yes, I kind of “push” my (Japanese) value. However, I do not visit other accounts/pages and push my value to someone who does not share the interest in Sashiko. The Internet reveals many hidden issues…

By the way, I am a healthy 36 years old who tries to make a living by sharing Sashiko – and I stitch for 24 hours non-stop if I can – not only for a few hours (The archive of 24-hours Sashiko is on Youtube). Some may define me “miserable” for not doing a “honorable” job, but I am pretty happy with what I do.

There is nothing dishonorable about working so hard, preserving a cultural practice, teaching traditional skills, representing a long history passed down… Stitching for hours upon hours is how all softgoods are made, and many people forget how textiles revolutionized human survival looking back to prehistory, as well as how dependent their present way of life really is upon textiles, every single day. #textiles #thegoldenthread. I recommend reading The Golden Thread #book for a crash course in textile history. #history #education

Many more people understand and appreciate your dedication than do not. Who are we to judge what others do? Thank you for sharing your artistry .
I love reading everything you have to say! Thank you for taking the time to translate to English, and thank you so much for sharing your work.
Simple minds, it is so easy to speak but harder to actually do something with discipline.
Why waste your time responding to idiots. Your dedication is great and extraordinary. Your not about instant gratification but a proper ritual to arrive a great result without thinking of the end. Explaining culture to barbarians disguised as civilians is a hard job. Honestly please continue as its people like you who make the world a worthy place to be in. Long Live sashiko 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼.
