Keiko visited the Otsuchi to share her knowledge and wisdom to the member in Otsuchi Sashiko Projects – for the next Sashiko item. It has been almost 8 years since we met Otsuchi. This photo, their smiles, is the reason I keep moving forward. ☆
I insist (babble) Sashiko ideas & philosophies here and there. The core is this photo – to spread these smiles as far as I can reach. Writing, Photographing, designing, and public speaking. All of them are necessary to share the Sashiko we practice. However, we would like to happily enjoy Sashiko after all. I hope you can synchronize the happiness with us.

Sashiko can be lonely work. The loneliness occasionally create the ultimate beauty. However, at the same time, it is good to have a “place” to share the enjoyment with sharing not only the result of stitching but also the process itself. Well. Again. After all, we are a group of Sashiko stitchers. Gotta stitch 😀

日頃、ぎゃーぎゃー面倒くさいことを言葉にしておりますが、私達が願う（楽しむ）刺し子の原点がこの写真です。この恵子さんと大槌の皆様の笑顔を見るために刺し子をしています。綺麗な文章を書く。伝わる写真を撮る。人前でお話する。刺し子を伝える方法は多岐に渡ると思いますが、原点はやっぱり「楽しんで刺し子をすること」なんですよね。刺し子で繋がり、一緒に作品を作り、こうして笑顔になれること。これほど素晴らしいこと（ちょっと大げさに言えば僕が形として残せたもの）はないと思っています。

刺し子は時に孤独な作業になりがちです。その孤独から派生する独特の美もあると思います。ただ、僕が刺し子をする何よりもの理由は、この笑顔を増やしたいから……なんです。「結果としての刺し子が魅力的だから」という理由での刺し子は勿論大切です。同時に、「刺し子で繋がる縁の楽しさ＝自分の居場所」を作るお手伝いができたらと。昔は、「刺し子の会社を経営するのに刺し子はできなくても問題ない（職人と経営者は違っていいし、違うべきだ）」とアドバイス頂いて、信じたこともありました。一般論ではそうかもしれません。でも、私達が伝えたい刺し子を残すためには、やっぱり参加する全ての人が刺し子を楽しめるような居場所にならなきゃね……と思うわけです。刺してなんぼ。あー、配信。語りながら刺せるかな（笑）
