A photo of “Oops.” After making a new working table, I completely forgot that I did not train my cat to not to be on the table. Of course… she played with the thread.

It seems like many people wonder how to keep the Sashiko thread in a good shape. Because of its unique twist, without proper care and handling, it WILL get tangled (even without cat). I share 2 ways of keeping the thread in a good shape on Youtube (Sashi.Co Channel). Well, even with the proper care, a cat can ruin the Sashiko thread… so be careful for any cat lovers. (The thread is usable, but it requires a lot of energy to use it. I am experienced to use them – but it will be a lot of work).

たまにはこういう写真も。「やっちまったなぁ」写真。刺し子糸。様々な保管方法があるとは思いますが、僕は「糸玉にする方法」と「ぶつ切りにして束ねて（その後三編みにして）」おく2種類の方法を採用しています。一長一短あるのですが、糸玉にする方法が一番無駄はないのですが、撚りのバランスが崩れるような気がして、大きな刺し子作品をする時は、基本的にぶつ切りにします。逆にこれだと糸の無駄が発生するので……やっぱり一長一短。撚りのバランスが崩れるっていうのも、感覚なレベルですしね。

糸玉にしておけば何も問題ないのですが、「ぶつ切り＆束ねる」という方法は、油断すると糸が絡まります。普段は愛猫が届かない高い所に糸を保管するのですが、新しい机と空腹感のコンボで、すっかりおもちゃになってしまっておりました……。これでも使えないという訳ではないのですが、でも、無駄が出てきます。何事も、「知ること」がまず大事で、その後に「気を配ること」も大事ですねというお話。
