I got a permission to share this photo, the Sashiko art by my student @natskiti .

We have been “with” many types of Sashiko. However, this “Anime x Sashiko” is something completely outside of our imagination. It is just amazing & stunning. I am so happy that the artists who we shared our Sashiko develop their own field, in Japan, in the USA, and everywhere in the world. Exciting to see more people & more beautiful art.

刺し子、長年見てきてますが、この作品は目から鱗でした。ってか拝見した瞬間に声が出ました。「（漫画）イラスト x 刺し子」は、僕の天才的な絵心（全く下手くそです）も手伝って、完全に箱の外の考え方でした。脱帽です。何が嬉しいって、運針会に参加下さって、喜んで下さってるってことですよね。こうやって縁が広がり、円が広がります。比べるものじゃないんです。自分なりの「刺し子」が必ずどこかにあるので。僕もそう。般若心経が原点みないなもんで。皆様と刺し子を共有できるのが何よりも嬉しいのです。

「手をみれば、その人の生き様がわかる。守る手、重ねる手だよ。頑張ったね。」親父＆僕の両方の幼少期を知る、卒寿を超えた方から頂いた言葉です。 ☆ お世辞にも綺麗だと言える手じゃありません。家事も刺し子も指先の感覚が失われるのが嫌なので、水仕事も何もかも基本素手なので、一層荒れるばかり。でも、ちょっと自慢の手です。握力というより 、重ねる手。伝わるかな。 ☆ 手は氣の出入り口であり、増幅機関であり、またフィルターでもあります。運針の針目に惹かれるのは、その手の持つ”らしさ”を形にしたものだと思うから。いろんな人と話す中で、結構真面目に、「刺し子の持つチカラ」を再確認しています。”コロナ疲れ”が出てくる頃だからこそ、余計に。刺し子を通して何かのメッセージを伝えることができるのかもしれません。 ☆ – – – ☆ I would never say my hand is beautiful from a cosmetic perspective. I use & depends on my hand so heavily, in Sashiko, in house work, and pretty much everything. I prefer the bare hand so I can “feel”….

Another great photo from Keiko. When Keiko sends photos, she sends a month amounts of photos at once. This is a bag made by Keiko’s workshop graduates, Boro inspired patchwork bag.
