I introduced the special combination of valuable vintage fabric and Hitomezashi

atsushijp, 2019年1月11日

I introduced the special combination of valuable vintage fabric and Hitomezashi with the natural dye Sashiko thread. I found a photo of the bag we made in the past. Because of its value, the bag shocked me how Keiko could stitch on the vintage Oshima silk, but it is all about repurposing the fabric to bring “someone” joy. Add another joy instead of throwing it away. Sashiko is caring in many meaningful ways. ☆

I am very much looking forward to the discussion with @made.by.yuki and @little_kotos_words tomorrow (Sat. August 26th at 8 pm EST). When I was in total confusion with the word [Cultural Appropriation] 5~6 years ago, I tried to read as many posts, articles, and books as possible, and they have…

Some may consider me as a “gatekeeper” of Sashiko, the reason for my voices are rather primitive. I just want to protect my mother’s smile, and many smiles that my mother can initiate. In order to do so, I share stories so that I can pass down the Sashiko that…
