People say, “You can enjoy Sashiko as you wish”. Using a thimble or no thimble. A knot or no knots. I agree with them we all have options to choose from. Some of Sashiko in Japan use a thimble, the other Sashiko don’t. ☆
The Sashiko we practice has stories behind all of our practice. There is always an explanation to “Why”. Why no making knots? Is the knot secure? Why thimble? I am answering those questions in the Workshop as well as on Patreon. The stories with logic (to make their Sashiko better) is called wisdom. My goal is to share that. The opinion is what an individual makes unique. However, isn’t it too superficial to say, “it is up to an individual opinion”, without trying to appreciate the wisdom in sharing the culture? Including myself, the Japanese aren’t very good at insisting. However, it doesn’t mean our silence equal to “whatever”. It is my challenge to go beyond my comfort zone, little by little, but I am determined to share what I have received. ☆

As I share Sashiko Stories, I love stories (I have been a big bookworm). For me, “reading” is a secretive dialogue to a book & author. In reading, we imagine scenes that the author also may have visualized. When lucky, we can even smell, taste, hear, and actually see “it”…

The “Thread” matters in Sashiko. There are stories we call it “Sashiko Thread”, and there are reasons why we keep using the specific “Sashiko Thread”. You can find the details on our Youtube & Website, and here is a “process” of thread being a part of fabric. It is very…
