Happy New Year 2020. I will continue sharing Sashiko here “as is” the previous year.
☆
I kept these photos to make the first post of 2020 Instagram – the back and front side of Sashiko stitched Jacket. This is a fantastic Boro-to-be piece done by my great friend in NYC. Can you guess which is “front” and “back” that she intended, the 1st or 2nd photo?
☆
I feel “Front” and “Back” will be one of my themes in 2020. My goal is to share the Sashiko in-between of the dualism. However, we can try to look at what is in between when we share the same (similar) premise. You may know which is “front” and “back” if you follow this account for a long time. She learned Sashiko from me, and I respect her work beyond my word after 3 years. It is important to “think” and “feel” rather than “imitate” and “pretend”. Again, I am here and there to share the Sashiko we are proud of, continuously in 2020. ☆

I love that the intricate patches are always the inside. Even though I understand the culture and shame of poverty, Now it seems more of a special secret with the fabrics chosen carefully for this purpose to continue loving them.

Both sides are gorgeous! Personally I would be inclined to choose the first photo as the “front side”,
