In between writing Sashiko Story, arranging (online) gathering, preparing the Sashiko Workshops, we made this kind of “Bookmarks” with leftover thread & scrap fabrics for this new year. It is indeed true that Sashiko is “stitching” to recycle the materials. It is very much against throwing away the thread/fabric we can still use. So, we also follow this wisdom, and it is our pleasure that this Sashiko is positively influencing the world with the beautiful idea of Sustainability.

We can care about Sustainability in Materialistic Perspective (Environment) while caring for Cultural Sustainability. Your choice will either support or destroy the ongoing culture in this “individual choice” society. So, I ask. I beg for you. Please “support” the one whom you find sincere. Support doesn’t mean only financial support (of course, it would be very much helpful for us). Spreading the words – that we exist – that there are places they can learn & shop the Sashiko wisdom & supply, would be a great help to preserve the culture. This year, with the account @SashikoStory, I will speak up more clearly with courage overcoming the fear. I am aware that we have a lot of support. I will push it a bit harder to tell the world – Sashiko is more than just a technique or a design.
☆
A bookmark – Shiori – the principal Sashiko is the beauty in “Using” it in our ordinary days.

Every 15th of each month, I adjust the numbers of participants I can have for the Sashiko Online Class. It is my goal to provide comprehensive support, and therefore I try to control the participants’ numbers. (Not like other “Online Learning” Platforms where thousands of people learn by just watching…

It is my goal to share The the Sashiko via Upcycle Stitches. One of the core activities of Upcycle Stitches is to support the industries that consist of the Sashiko – and the next step is to “raise” the next generation. Well… “Raise” is a quite strong word. I am…
