This may be the first time to actually put it like this in 6 years… as it is uncomfortable for me to ask for specific help. I mention the help to refer to me, be mindful who to learn from, and acknowledge the stories. Today, I have a more specific favor to ask. Please help us to attract more people to our In-Person & Online Sashiko Class by your word of mouth/writing. It has been challenging in the 2nd half of the year.
☆
It has been about 3 months without no Online Class Registration. We are having a hard time to fill out the In-Person Class scheduled in 2025. I haven’t changed much… the increase in pricing is within the (crazy) inflation, I believe. Then, I need to see the external factors like Economy, Trend, Competitors, and Demand/Supply Curve. Economy seems okay. Trend in Sashiko is still Hot. The supply (numbers of Workshops) didn’t increase much. Competitors? The ones who copied what I shared are slowly killing the origin they learned from (indirectly)? Is this what my friends warned me about?
☆
Without the upstream, water supply isn’t sustainable. In Culture, the “water” is “wisdom”. Yes, what I offer can be a big investment – but it is a life-long technique & mindset. After the class, everyone told me it was worthwhile. My life-long learning is within the class. We live in a “Free” world where we can get so much information online for free – for “self-taught”. We all know, too, that there is something outside of the “Free World” as everyone needs to make ends meet (unless they are so privileged to begin with). Please help me to redirect learners to my class to preserve this tradition. It is reaching a point of whether this teaching is sustainable or not.
☆
One can complete this much Sashiko without struggling after taking my class. There are reasons why we can stitch so MUCH.

The word, “Sashiko (and Boro)”, is quite simplified and romanticized in translation – some intentionally, and then majority unintentionally, to mold “it” into something comfortable & convenient in Western Culture. Sashiko and Boro aren’t the only case: “Ikigai”, “Pechakucha”, “Kombucha”, “Kakeibo”… I can list numbers of Japanese words in English…

One of the core messages I share in Sashiko is “the care for the others”. In packaging the order, my first “care” is to deliver the items as “clean” as possible. Since there is a possibility of rain, I make sure that the item is covered by a plastic bag….

11 weeks from today, Atsushi offers the Sashiko Stitching Workshop (Core & Basic) in a beautiful SAORI weaving studio, @loopoftheloom. It is an honor to offer the Sashiko workshop in a studio where people enjoy similar-minded SAORI weaving. So grateful they found me. ☆ Unlike the other Atsushi’s workshop, Loop…

Hello, I just tried going through all of the links connected to your bio and many would not open. The message was server could not be found. Is there possibly a problem with website? The domestica link opened as well as the store link. Others did not. I could not find a link for classes. I hope this may be helpful.

Is Domestika the best place to consider an online class?

It may be that your main audience isn’t here, they’re busy stitching in an unplugged/off grid world! Have you tried reaching out through slow-news? When we lived in rural areas, we read our local utility magazine to catch up on local things, and the Farmers Almanac and printed coupon books were good sources of ad info too. As much as you want to pass this on to younger gens, the general mindset of “we can find anything free on the internet usually” may be working against you. Plus, economy is not alright for many of us. Rents continue to rise, and many of those in my age range have reduced our personal activity investment drastically to survive. So many people barely making it paycheck to paycheck.

Domestika has changed from a buy-one-class-at-a-time model to a subscription model. That might affect signups for that class.

Word of mouth is the best promoter of this type of online and in person course. Although this is a niche market to attract, there are many who would love and appreciate your in person and online courses. As a student of yours, I am happy to promote it whenever I can.😍
