Exactly half of Shippou is done. It is rare to see the results of just circles as I often stitch on non-rectangle shaped fabrics (like Denim Pants). When one goes along the winding curves, while adding threads when it runs out, we can reach the result of “Shippou”.
☆
In the previous Live Streaming, I talked about “Process” and “Result” in Sashiko. I received several feedback that the explanation was helpful to understand my messages about Sashiko. Today, I plan to add 2 more concept there: “Goal” and “Vehicle” (it can be translate as Means and End).
☆
The core principle of Sashiko was in the “ordinary” of those who had no choices but stitching to use fabric for a longer period of time. As we receive more choices in privileges that they didn’t have, we naturally change “Why” and “What”. I am not criticizing the change itself. I am trying to share the stories of its change so that we can appreciate & respect something important – and something missing in today’s Sashiko introduced in English. Respect & Appreciation cannot be fully expressed by just words… So this is my action to Respect & Appreciate the culture we have been practicing.
☆
Live Streaming is available on Youtube, every Thursday night at 9 pm EST. The link should be available on “Story” – and anyone is welcome to see my “unprocessed” Sashiko.

I am NOT asking/expecting you to agree with me on what I share all the time. Of course, I would like you to agree with & like me. However, since I sometimes say something strong, I understand if you disagree. The voice from another culture is occasionally uncomfortable to take…

End of September. Beginning of October. I love Autumn. I used to be a smoker. The cigarette changes its taste from heat, humid and joyful to dry, cold, and somewhat “ending” something.  ☆ It is the end of the Indigo Season. I am cleaning out the tiny garden in our…

I am glad that the reel I shared was somewhat inspiring & helpful. When I pick up my Unshin – Running Stitch – as a short video, many people point out the “Speed” of stitching. When we look at Sashiko as a technique, skill and “Result of Art”, it is…
