I share the importance of learning how to prepare the patterns on the Fabric. At the same time, I understand the troublesomeness (or even inconvenience) of doing so when we want to just focus on stitching. Every year, we try to choose (a) pattern(s) to be prepared on our Indigo Cotton Fabric (best for Sashiko stitching) so that we can just jump into stitching. This happens especially when we ask others to be part of a project we wish to have (like an Unshikai Jacket made by some of Atsushi’s Students).

I am working on this fabric with Hishi-Seigaiha pattern prepared by silkscreen with washable ink. It isn’t so complicated to prepare the Hishi Seigaiha (so I want you to learn how to), but it is always good to have it ready. We have 4 Standard/Traditional Geometric Patterns prepared on our Sashiko fabric for sale, with limited inventory for now. (1) Asano-ha, (2) Shippou, (3) Hishi Seikaiha and (4) Amimon then, something unique for last year we named “Keiko 1st”.

Unlike other “Sashiko Set”, we do not print “dot sizes” for defining the “Correct” Sashiko Stitches size as we do not believe there is such a thing as “correct size“. The line is washable, and it is good to go with the best fabric we recommend for enjoying the Sashiko & Unshin Rhythm. With the needle, thimble, and Sashiko threads we recommend, I hope you jump into the Sashiko we practice.

We don’t have a tutorial for this (as I do not want to define answers for you). However, the process of me stitching is (& will be) available on Youtube Live – so we can follow the very original scenery of “learning by looking (at grandma’s/mothers hand)”.
