Today’s post may sound more philosophical than usual. It is a message to myself

Today’s post may sound more philosophical than usual. It is a message to myself – not for someone else. Although it isn’t for someone else, I hope it would be great if this can be someone’s encouragement. The photo is 95% completion of the on-going Sashiko. Well. I will share my honest feeling about this when I “decide it” to be completed.

When we are taken in on the tremendous flow, we feel powerless & give up. It seems every effort is a waste. However, in reality, it is “LessPower” instead of “PowerLess”. The power (influence) we have can be extremely trivial (close to Zero). However, it is never “No Power At all”. Catching a breath may be the best you can do in the violent flow. All you can do is probably to struggle to avoid drowning. Sometimes, it may be better to let yourself be in the Flow. Some will say “Just Give Up. It is a waste”. However, a single breath, a mere hand-movement in the flow never is “Complete Powerless”. It should/will “cause” something.
☆
I won’t say something irresponsible like “You will be rewarded when you continue it”. We don’t know that. However, it is true that “it” will be completely lost if you do not continue. Look up so that you can catch the breath from the sky. You have been struggling. Giving up many “luggages” that you were carrying. To swim better, you don’t even have clothes on. What can you lose more? Focus on what you “should” do now. You may not have significant power to influence it, but you are never powerless to it. Then, you can fully focus on what you “want” to do with less struggle.

I saw a post on FB Sashiko Group. He says, “try to avoid the bright accent in Japanese style Sashiko”. I admire his braveness to share his insight. Personally, I use both colors (as you can see on the photo), I STRONGLY prefer the natural soft color like Indigo, Kakishibu,…

“You need to speak up your ideas!” – a professor often told me what I needed – in my college time, “speaking up in the class” was one of the most challenging things to do. As you can see now, I improved a lot by following this American culture. Often,…

Asanoha Sashiko by 26 Sashiko practitioners into one piece. It is a significant evidence that there is no such thing as “right” and “wrong” in Sashiko – all of the 26 patches are beautiful as they are. It is our pleasure to present – “26 Asano-ha Project”. All-hand stitched. All…

I’ve so enjoyed watching your stitching on Thursday’s live streaming. I especially loved seeing you handle it to show the softness of the texture you have created with needle and thread.❤️

Not power less, instead less power. I’ll be pondering your words for some time. Thank you.
