Our Sashiko Story to Your Sashiko Journey

As Sashiko becomes a trend, we can find so many choices in the market. A few decades ago, there were only a few choices for Sashiko Thread, Sashiko Needles… now, a lot of items are introduced as Sashiko ︎︎.
☆
After all, it is a preference of a stitcher. A choice they make will choose the future of Sashiko. Upcycle Stitches is a business entity for profit. However, it is also a business owned by actual practitioners who stitch Sashiko daily. What we introduce is what we use. What we use is something essential for Sashiko that we want to have in the future as well. The Quality of what we use will not disappoint you as we are very happy with what we use every day. It is perfectly normal & healthy from a “business” competition perspective to purchase items from bigger online retailers or a business without actual Sashiko Stitchers (or Japanese people behind them)… but, please acknowledge the stories behind why we keep offering what we use.
☆
In a big trend of Sashiko, unfortunately, items with less production capacity, less budget for advertisement, and less logistics will lose their place to be. At this point, the Sashiko thread we use can be purchased in very limited shops (less than we can count with folding fingers…). Your choice will support the culture. Items we use will make a significant difference in actual “Sashiko”.

I keep forgetting to share this video on this account… The link (https://www.bbc.com/reel/video/p0gl796s/japanese-sashiko-the-art-of-stitching-stories) is a video filmed & edited by Alex Trowbridge, used on the BBC Article about Sashiko. The writing of the Article wasn’t based on the interview, so the message in the video is what I want to…

Upcyclestitches products are truly top quality. I’ve been pleased with everything I’ve purchased through them. If you are going to spend time doing Sashiko, I can’t imagine using cheaper products. No matter how much time you put into it, you’ll not be happy with using the lesser quality products. It shows.
