Sashiko & Denim creates such cool & artistic wear. I am in love with our Denim which is full of Sashiko Stitching. At the same time, some patterns & some styles of Sashiko aren’t the ideal suit for the stitching. Often, Denim Fabric is woven as twill. A majority of our Sashiko fabric is plain woven. The difference between how it is woven may not be significant when a stitcher focuses on making one good stitch. However, when it comes to finding a rhythm, it takes some time to get used to it. The key is “Communication” to the denim – each fabric has its character, and they have their own preference, too.
☆
Sashiko originated from the concept of appreciating the fabric by strengthening it. I really wish that we can be mindful of this original concept and avoid damaging the fabric more than necessary. Using a proper thread & needle would be one important step to care for the Fabric – some threads may be too weak/strong for fabric – some needles may simply damage the fabric. I hope all the stitchers keep learning the abundance of wisdom of Sashiko.

Our Natural Dye Sashiko Threads are hand-dyed by Keiko Futatsuya, a member of SashiCo Artisan Group (@SashikoStory). As much as we aim to keep offering the “same” Color thread, since they are both Natural & hand dyed, all of the threads are categorized into “One of a Kind” Sashiko thread….

Changing Colors in one thread is pretty fun in stitching. We restocked 5 kinds of “Variegated Sashiko Threads” (hoping to do so more), and I enjoyed using all 5 different Variegated Sashiko Threads. I am still not sure if this Furoshiki (Wrapping Cloth) is my favorite, but it is true…
