I am so happy (and relieved) to have these threads back in stock. They are all “hand-dyed” Sashiko threads by Keiko using the Natural Indigo. As a professional, she tries to produce constant & reproducible colors, yet as we all know, they are all “One-of-a-kind” as she dyes manually using Natural Ingredients.
☆
It takes a lot of time & effort to make one – so it has been out of stock for a while in our store. We have some back in stock – not so many unfortunately, but about 30 skeins in Total now (Most of the threads were sold out in the previous In-Person Sashiko Workshop).
☆
We have reasons & stories for why we keep using this type of “Sashiko Threads”. Some say one can use any thread in Sashiko – and it is true that you can use any threads in Sashiko. However, it is wrong to say that there are no reasons to use the specific Sashiko Thread as we have so many stories to make our thread as “the best Sashiko Thread”. Well. It is the best Sashiko thread for those who actually enjoy stitching… if the thread is sold by someone who doesn’t stitch, yes, they won’t see any differences as it is “just thread (as commodity)” to them. Please don’t let them destroy the culture – please acknowledge the story & reasons behind our choices & recommendations.

As a Sashiko Artisan, I limit the opportunities to teach throughout the Year to focus on my own creation. Also, it is important for me to keep preparing sufficiently for workshops. It is my goal to pass down something very important about Sashiko while encouraging them to enjoy it. The…
