As much as I output our Sashiko Story, I try my best to “input” the information on “Sashiko”. I offer Live Streamings where I can learn from the comments. I follow SNS groups to learn their own understanding (belief) of Sashiko. I read books, take classes, and watch videos about Sashiko in both languages. The conclusion is my statement: Sashiko introduced in English is not wrong, but insufficient. Core & Essence in Sashiko is missing.

The more I input the current information, unfortunately, the more devastated I feel. “They” think they know Sashiko enough to tell others what is “right” or “wrong”. Others encourage/discourage others based on a piece of history they can get as a translation of someone’s interpretation – yet “they” ignore the “voice” from Japanese. “They” only want to learn what they want to learn – in this way, what culture can be preserved?

To be honest, I don’t know what to do. “Suggesting” each discussion is meaningless due to the reasons above (I have tried enough). You are here as you may want to hear the actual voices from Japanese – and thanks to you, the account is growing – yet I am still a small stone in this big trend. It is tiring, painful, and degrading. My identity is deeply rooted into Sashiko – and the word “Sashiko” is changing its form by strangers’ hands.

本日の配信も素敵な時間をありがとうございました。6年続けてきて、漸く自分が貫いてみたいスタイル（立ち位置）を把握してきたような気がしています。しゃべくり漫才というか、一人でただひたすらとずーっと刺し子についての思いや個人的な好き嫌い、んでもって日本への思慕等をマシンガントークする形で（が）良いんだろうなと。「笑い」を取りたい。楽しんでもらいたい。いろんな思いを重ねて今まで続けてきましたが、結局のところは「大切なことを伝えたい、残したい、知って欲しい」という手段に帰結するんだなと。配信をすることそのものが目的ではなく、配信を通して刺し子を一緒に楽しめる場を作り、且つ刺し子について一層楽しんで頂けるお話を残せたら…と。

人を傷つけるが為の配信はしたくありません。ただ、他人様を傷つけることを恐れるがあまり本音が話せない配信にもしたくありません。ここ2週間ほどスッキリする配信が続いて、言い過ぎてはいないか不安になり、妻に夕飯時にその話を相談したところ、「（これまでの淳と刺し子の話を聞いている限り）誰かの傷の心配をしている貴方こそ、私には（傷だらけで）血まみれに見えるけどね」と核心を突く言葉を頂きました。長くお付き合い頂いている方は、「（私の）どこの何が痛いか」はもう重々承知して下さっていて、その痛い場所を痛いと伝えることには躊躇はいらないんだろうという覚悟も覚えました。

刺し子にはこれまで本当に沢山の日本人が関わってきています。そしてその大多数は普通の、目立つことを嫌う、一般的な日本人の方々です。彼ら彼女らの存在を蔑ろにしてしまうような流れは、やっぱり「止めたい」んです。見守るとかじゃない。傷ついてもいいから、やっぱり「変えたい」んだろうと思います。（繰り返しになりますが、日本国内での刺し子の流れは現時点では止めたいとも変えたいとも思っていませんので悪しからず）。
