Some may wonder why our “products (we sell)” are mostly prepared by hand. For example, the needles come in the paper wrapping & prepared by hand. They may wonder if it may be more efficient in costs & time when we use the machine to do so. It may look more “professional”. Well, we have stories (of course) for this as well.

Ever since Keiko and I restarted our Sashiko, we have been trying to involve as many people” as possible. We prioritize people over machines. One of the relations we have is with people in special needs education. Keiko placed the order to prepare, and they did a fantastic job. Some items may be prepared by people with disabilities/challenges.

Well. For us, their “disability” isn’t really “dis”because they Focus, Care for the details, and Respect their work (even though it is quite repetitive). The Japanese believe(d) in Animism, and they have the ability to put “spirit” into our previous tools & supplies. Another reason Keiiko and I do not outsource the order fulfillment.

We celebrate diversity today. I believe it is a huge step-up as a human being. As a next step, I hope we would celebrate “different” value – here, “cerebration” isn’t something fancy – it is just about “learning” and “viewing world from their view” – we call it “imagination” and I believe it can avoid a lot of cultural issues we face now.

今週末、8月26日（土）の運針会、今回最後のご案内です。混沌の中の変化から文化が生まれると昨日の投稿で書きましたが、刺し子における運針も、きっと様々な方の様々な思いが重なって形になったものだと思っています。日本的に言えば「見て学べ」が本流だと思います。実際、見て学ぶことも大切です。ただ、長年刺し子に携わってきたからこそお伝えできる道があります。近道…というよりは、より一層道中を楽しめる道があるというイメージです。登山に例えるとして、山の頂きに辿り着き素敵な眺めを楽しむのも登山の醍醐味です。そこまでの過程、山登りそのものが好きな人もいるでしょう。山を登る道も東西南北様々にあるはずです。では私の運針会とは何かというと、その道中にある「美味しい湧水」や「樹齢何百年の樹」がある場所をお伝えし、またそこまで行く方法（道具）をお渡しすることです。これまで沢山の方が運針会にご参加くださり、各々の刺し子の楽しみ方を見つけてくださっています。中には、山頂よりも湧水を楽しみにされる方もいらっしゃる程に。
