Thank you for being patient for my absence in the office. After intensive 2 week

atsushijp, 2023年5月5日

Thank you for being patient for my absence in the office. After intensive 2 weeks in Japan, my body has been reacting strongly to readjust back (have been sleeping a lot). I prioritized the pending orders I have received while I was gone, and I believe they are all fulfilled. Now, slowly, I will get back to the ordinary in the United States such as stitching & Live Streaming.
☆
In order to keep the ordinary, it is critical to think about “making ends meet”. In Japan, I learned that many other Sashiko Artisans & Suppliers are struggling with the same challenges – they cannot make ends meet without supplemental jobs and support. In terms of “culture” or “sustainable practice”, it isn’t a healthy situation. We are not a big company with a big budget for mass production and advertising campaigns. At the same time, there are reasons & stories for why we keep our size small. I used to think of only ourselves – myself & my mother, Keiko. Now, I would like to care for others who are in the same challenge… Well, the only thing I can do is to keep sharing the stories so that the “reasons to use” will be spread out. The stories will be available mainly on @SashikoStory, and more items & supplies will be available throughout this account, Upcycle Stitches.

I keep forgetting to share this video on this account… The link (https://www.bbc.com/reel/video/p0gl796s/japanese-sashiko-the-art-of-stitching-stories) is a video filmed & edited by Alex Trowbridge, used on the BBC Article about Sashiko. The writing of the Article wasn’t based on the interview, so the message in the video is what I want to…
