I share a pile of Sashiko Stories in our story-account (@SashikoStory) about why we use “Natural Dye Sashiko Threads”. Natural Dye Color ages with the other vintage fabrics. They are always “One-of-a-Kind”, and simply they are just beautiful beyond words. Here, looking at this Jacket at the end of the year in clear cold weather, I find the “miracle” of Natural Dye & Hand-Stitching. This Jacket is a simple garment with hand-stitched Sashiko and 2 different kinds of Natural Dye, Indigo & Kakishibu (Japanese Persimmon Tannin). The materials are simple. The process is simple… but the result is like “shining”. It reflects the sun-light and it really “shines”.

As our Natural Dyes are all hand-made, we don’t have that much production capability. Although we try our best to stabilize our production, it is almost impossible to “promise” that the next batch will have the same colors. I know how precious this “One-of-a-Kind”, and therefore I have a collection of those colors we think we may not be able to replicate (I am one big fan of Keiko’s Dyeing). Natural Dye does not “fight” in Color, especially when it is in Nature. The Color becomes the “part” of it. That’s one principle of Sashiko (to be part of), and it is our pleasure to keep offering our Natural Dye Sashiko Threads.

New Natural Dye Sashiko Thread with “(Almost) Red” Color – one challenge Keiko did in 2021. Last year, Keiko had spent some time & money to create the “Red” Color in Natural Dye. Red is one of the most difficult dye for her to make. She once tried Cochinil (from…

I really like your natural dyed threads! My favorites are the madder dyed and indigo. Would love to have some that are persimmon dyed.
