Another impressive photo of so beautiful Sashiko Stitches – and yes, again, it is NOT my work. She probably has many fans already (I am a big fan of hers, too) and her Sashiko is inspiring many people around the world. This is the “Nana Sashiko” @na.na_45
☆
No Long Story is necessary here. The Stitches themselves communicate a lot. It has been my sincere pleasure: Meeting & Spending time with (rising) Sashiko artisans like her is my strong motivation to keep teaching Sashiko. The fact that I am teaching Sashiko to Japanese (in addition to people in English) is another strong reason that I speak up in English. Even Japanese people (who carry Japanese culture as their ordinary) come to me to learn – so I want others to learn as well.
☆
As you can check the post from 10/24, Nana isn’t the only one. Her Sashiko is great & incredible, but she started Sashiko from a similar place as you are. I can say so because I know many more “rising artisans” – more than a few – or more than I can count with my hands… both Japanese & Non-Japanese, who can stitch like her in their own way. This is the contribution I can make to the culture of Sashiko.
☆
When one focuses on making “even stitches” like this, they won’t be able to make this “incredible Sashiko” happen. They have to “let it go” first to have these stitches – and I teach it as a Core of Sashiko, not only the technique itself. Her Sashiko is a good treat to my eyes.

I once wrote that the selfish reason for me to share the Sashiko we practice is to leave something behind for my daughter. I have goals & dreams in Sashiko – to pass down this culture as a “whole” practice. However, after all, I would like to “leave” something about…

Alright. Thank you for enjoying a series of our “wow” project of Sashiko Jacket. The reverse side of it. A person can wear as a whole new jacket (Beautiful Green Vintage Fabric), but the concept here was to have “Both side of the fabric beautiful” following the Sashiko traditions. ★…

We “make” Boro rather than “deal” Boro.

We “make” Boro rather than “deal” Boro. Our Boro fabric are clean. Our goal is to revive the Boro-quality small swatches into one fabric as the Japanese used to do. Repurposing fabric. Talking to fabric. That’s our origin of Sashiko. 2018-02-18 15:26:25 Source
