Besides my goal in sharing Sashiko Stories (pass down the Sashiko we practice), I have a few dreams. The biggest dream is to have our own studio. I do all of my work in a corner of the half-basement. It is quite dark & I need to go to my wife’s bedroom to take photos of the items (I just painted her room this summer to High-Reflective White). I don’t really know when… with the speed I focus on profit now, it will be quite far in the future, but it is my big goal to have a studio. Another & smaller dream is to have a photographer for a whole day to shoot as many Sashiko items as we have. As you can see from this photo, I am not a good photographer (although I am trying!). I know this account can make me more “Stylish” on Instagram… but 99.9% of the photos I share here are almost “as is” – which can be quite dark. Well, this “darkness” is quite an important essence in Sashiko. Therefore, trying to be “stylish” may not be the ideal choice… but, it would be so wonderful to have professional photos on the white background.

We can modify a “Still Image” as we wish quite easily with technology. I was told I can lose 30 pounds in Photoshop… (which I gained in my “stay-at-home” period). Recently, “Videos” became a more important media to attract people with more technology. It is one responsibility as a Story-Teller to have professional quality “Images” – as I share honest story here, and then unedited & no-modification “Live Streaming” of my stitching on Youtube. “Dream” doesn’t have to come true. It is, of course, wonderful if it comes true, but we can also brighten our lives when we go after the dream. There is no end in this – so one day, I hope, I can share more beautiful photos & present myself in a tiny yet bright Sashiko Studio somewhere out of nowhere.

度々、「現状に満足してる自分がいる」と配信でお話する事があります。心地良い場所と時間が作れているのは本当で、それを目指して突っ走ってきた分、ある程度満足しています。同時に「夢」も沢山あります。大きなのは「工房を持つ」という所から、小さいものだと写真家のプロを一日雇うというものもあります。沢山作品を作ってきました。これからも作り続けます。子供達のような作品を、綺麗に丁寧に写真に収めてあげたいと思うのです。まずはそこからだな。今日のお昼は英語で、夜は日本語で刺し子の配信予定です。是非遊びにきてください！
