Thank you for the comments in the previous post with my daughter. I don’t usually reply to comments, but I read them. I appreciate sharing your own stories. As I stated in the post a few days ago, I believe Sashiko can be quite “personal” like our own crafting, creativity, and artistic heritage & its story. I happened to be born in a family where they tried to revive Sashiko in their village, and then once succeeded on “Sustainable System (making artisans end meet)” out of this “Personal” practice. For that, yes, we are the one who tried to shift “personal” practice to more “public”. Another reason I really didn’t like Sashiko in my childhood.
☆
I do not consider myself an Artist, nor talented, nor special, nor genius (or even genuine). I have failed so many times/people. I know what I am capable of, and all I do focus on now is persistence: The goal is always to pass down the Sashiko we practice – the Sashiko as someone’s personal story. It is very challenging to pass down someone’s personal story because it should be within someone they feel comfortable with: once it is out in public, it isn’t really “personal”. I would rather share my personal stories than non-Japanese “westernize” personal & silently precious stories by teaching Sashiko’s answers, or even labeling with other Japanese words, like “Zen” and “Wabi-Sabi”. The combination only shows ignorance.
☆
Please value your own story rather than asking for someone’s answer in some catchy foreign words. The word carries many “Personal Stories”, and therefore it is very painful when someone takes it too lightly (disrespect). I hope I can keep sharing the stories until the last day of my life with the many support & your choices I receive.

I will do the similar Live on Youtube sometime this month. Denim Mending is very interesting & challenging….

December 8th. If you follow this account for more than a year, you may know this day is a bit special to Japanese, especially for those who stitch. Yes, it is the day for “Hari-Kuyou”. ☆ Sashiko is getting popular with its “imperfection”, “simplicity”,“beauty of patterns” and such. I am…

“Welcoming” and “Unwelcoming”. I receive 2 very opposite feedbacks to the Same Stories. “He is Encouraging (me to enjoy Sashiko)” and “He is Angry” are another example of 2 opposite reactions I receive. After wondering for many years why, I understand that it happens because of a fact: We read…
