I have been sharing almost 2,000 posts here and 150+ articles on Patreon, and numbers of Videos on Youtube because I would like to be very careful in introducing What Sashiko can be for us. I know the majority is asking for simple, comfortable, easy-to-understand, and “quick” answers & definitions. However, “the quickness” can be violent by filtering the important elements of the practice. I believe “Sashiko in Japan” exists with no “absolute definition”. Sashiko as “Little Stabs” isn’t the wrong definition, but not enough to describe the whole. Yes, I do have my own definitions & share them here and there. However, I don’t want them to trust my definition & description. I want them to acknowledge our Sashiko, but not believe what I share without doubt unconditionally.
☆
So, how do I share the culture without “absolute definition”? Well, the answer is simple: share the experience. Bring them to the place where we share the same “common sense”: the same culture. Language is a big barrier here, so I try to share as many stories as possible in English. On top of that, we started a “monthly gathering” to offer an “experience” of a Japanese group with interest in Sashiko thanks to the help from @prumstudio. We had the very first gathering last night. I enjoyed it a lot, and I hope it was a fun time to talk about Sashiko & Japanese culture together in English, while inviting Japanese Sashiko practitioners. Thanks to PrumStudio, this is available for anyone with no fees. If you are interested, please follow them & sign-up for the next one (which is probably 10/13). I sincerely hope, while accumulating this gathering, I can share the Sashiko without defining what it is.

[When one learns the “Form/Kata”, anyone can do Sashiko as we do]. Many people who learned Sashiko from me, both Japanese & Non-Japanese, have proven this belief I have. The “Form” is more important than learning the superficial technique or designs. The form – Core & Essence – will define…

I appreciate all the positive reviews on our store, about my Sashiko Classes, and on Domestika Course. I found one interesting review that made me research & think.
